March 2025 Update

Thirty years ago, a group of craft enthusiasts had an idea: what if we dedicated an entire month to celebrating the joy of making things? And just like that, National Craft Month was born, thanks to the Craft & Hobby Association of 1994.

You know what I love about that story? It wasn’t started by a big corporation or a marketing team. It began with people who simply understood something fundamental about human nature - we’re all makers at heart. Whether it’s painting, woodworking, digital design, or (of course) laser crafting, there’s something magical about creating something with your own hands.

This March marks the 30th anniversary of National Craft Month, and I can’t help but think about how much the creative landscape has changed since 1994. Back then, the idea of having a precise laser cutter in your home office or craft room probably seemed like science fiction. Yet here we are, watching this incredible community create… well, if I’m reading the logs right, more than 40,000 amazing things so far just today.

How does this magic happen? Well, over half of you discovered us through someone you know or follow. Not through ads, or searching online - but because someone they trusted showed them what’s possible with a Glowforge.

That’s why I’m so excited about a new experiment we’re trying today. It’s a one time offer for our Premium subscribers that makes laser ownership more affordable than it’s ever been before, exclusively for the people you care about.

Introducing Laser Companion Fare: Because Making is Better Together

This week, Premium subscription members are receiving a special offer in their email. You’ll get one single code for 50% off a Glowforge Aura. It’s for you to share with a friend (although you can use it yourself if you need to). And it expires in 30 days. We’re calling it the Laser Companion Fare - a unique opportunity to help someone that admires your creativity start their Glowforge journey.

Here’s how it works: Every current Premium member is getting a unique code that gives one friend 50% off a Glowforge Aura on glowforge.com. That means $599 in savings for someone you choose to bring into our creative community. That means laser ownership for less than $600. That means they get the Glowforge Aura, the most capable Craft Series model, for less than just about anything - even a Glowforge Spark.

I can’t stress how ridiculous this is. There’s a reason we’re doing this for only Premium subscribers, for only 30 days, just this once. But we are, and it’s incredible, and I’m so excited to be able to share this with you.

As a Glowforge owner, you know how amazing it feels to see your imagination turn into reality. That word-of-mouth number I mentioned earlier? It tells me something important about our community. It tells me that Glowforge owners don’t just make things - they inspire others. They share their enthusiasm, their knowledge, and their creativity in ways that ripple outward.

Premium members, your Laser Companion Fare code is our way of making it a little easier to keep that tradition going. Who will you inspire next?

When those craft enthusiasts started National Craft Month back in 1994, they probably never imagined we’d be celebrating it with laser cutters in our homes. But they understood something timeless: creativity grows when it’s shared.

Keep making magic,

–dan
