This is driving me nuts. I have a 12"x12" piece of .18" black acrylic loaded in the Glowforge. When I open the artwork it fits on the material. I then set the material type, etch vs cut and the material size changes and the artwork no longer fits. and instead of the 12" it was showing on the side rulers it is now less than 11". I’ve tried rescanning and setting focus. Any ideas what is going on here?
The allowed engrave area is smaller than the cut area because the machine needs space to speed up and slow down at the end of each line. Exactly how much depends on the speed setting.,
Minimize Margin can get you a little more usable space at the expense of quality.

This is true for the big guys but the Aura can actually use the full 12x12 bed.
@jamie.porter which machine do you have?

They last posted 3 years ago, so good bet it’s not an Aura.

It’s not an Aura. Wish it was.
In that case artwork 12” tall is too big. The non-Aura GFs working area is around 11x19.
