Mirror Mirror On The Wall | Magic Mirror

Simple Project.

Old Samsung Display (gutted)
Raspberry Pi 2.
Scrap pieces of MakerSlides.
1/4" Clear Acrylic Proofgrade.
Two short segments of Neopixels.
One way mirror.
The side parts are from an old IKEA bed frame.

The only section that needed pew’ing was the light pipe for the LEDs.

Powered Off.

Powered On from the back.

Mounted on the wall.

Aside from obviously operating as a mirror, its acts as a daily hud for that’s going to happen for that day. The family calendar, weather, traffic conditions, fuel levels (and power levels) of both cars etc… The LEDs are for a quick glance for the weather and traffic. When idle thru out the day they do a couple fun things.

I have a couple plans for it for holidays. Especially Halloween.

Powered by https://magicmirror.builders/ with some customs scripts to handle REST or MQTT to talk to various IoT thru out the house.

I liked this, then unliked, just so I could like it again. Incredible! I’ve seen these done in the past, but it’s been a long time. Definitely going on my to do list!

Hmmm.
now if the software worked landscape, I could do something like that… to my 70" LCD TV… and have it switch my Xbox- (media center) on when I want to watch TV or stream something! Wait, don’t tell my wife!

Nice job. I still haven’t made my frame. I just have the monitor on a shelf. One of these days…

Ah. The USS Fail Boat.

That was the first print I made after I built my 3D Printer. That was 3.5 years ago.
