Awesome! I graduated in '95…my sis in '92, my B.I.L. in '91…how about your kids?
I almost made it through this thread without drooling all over my keyboard, but the pastrami one did me in…
Yeah, anti-seafood for life. Though I have eaten an entire can of sardines for a competition. Barely made it through that.
My taste leans toward all things spice. Otherwise it is texture dominated.
Coffee would be my other major turn off. That because of the smell. I have never made it as far as tasting. The smell is abysmal (I don’t even shop for cereal since the coffee shares the aisle)
And you pass this along to someone with “Starbucks” in their screen name. LOL.
This is the first time I have heard someone say that. I know a lot of people who don’t like the taste of coffee, but they have all agreed that it smelled incredible. Interesting.
but then… I don’t like spicy food at all. When I ask “is it spicy?” and someone says “not really”… that’s probably too spicy for me.
Still after 47 years of marriage I am incredulous that I continue to ask my husband if something is spicy. He loves spicy food, (I do not) so his stock answer is usually “no…not at all”. I end up with one of those palm slaps against my forehead (I coulda had a V8!) How COULD I keep asking him that? His answer to me is meaningless.
Two sons. 2010 and 2006. NY was perfect for them. One had internships on Madison Ave until he graduated and then went to work at an ad agency. The other did audio engineering work including a Cheryl Crow disc
Nothing like going to school where the jobs are.
Well, at least we can share a love for the Glowforge. I am an omnivore. Haven’t really met a food or drink that I didn’t like. Seriously, with all the food pics posted, especially the charcuterie, if I went to NYMF, I might not make it to the Faire. I’d get lost in the delis.
I completely agree with you on the coffee. Can’t stand it, smell and all. I blame my parents. They always drink turkish coffee, and I think I was over exposed to it as a kid.
Food-wise, though, we differ. I love seafood.
This really resonated with me. We were just on Arthur Ave. in mid May, while on a visit to our son who lives in NJ. His in-laws live in Port Jervis NY and drove us all into the Bronx for dinner. They had previously eaten at Dominicks, but this time we went across the street…can’t remember the name of the place…a Trattoria. We had an amazing time.
I laughed too! I love coffee! I named my cat Starbucks. My other cat is Picasso.
Oh wow! I have worked right in midtown for most of the past 20+ years…probably have been on the same subway at some time. Whoa, wait, my cousin graduated about 3 years ago or so, would not be surprised if they had some classes together…Accounting Major like me, but still, we have to take lib arts classes, too.
What a small world!! Wish I had known, I live 10 minutes away, would have been wonderful to meet you…
Wow, that’s fascinating. I often make espresso at my desk at work, with a fan blowing on it and it spreads through the whole floor (open desk floor design, like a securities trading floor), and everyone (dozens of people) looks over longingly, drooling…lol. I often take pity on them and make extra…
Wicked small world eh?
BTW, how come no one mentioned the White Castle on Fordham Road?
BTW, how come no one mentioned the White Castle on Fordham Road?
LOL! I dunno if we should recommend that to anyone who has to soon sit in a car (especially in a group) for a long time…
But if you absolutely MUST satisfy that crave, then y’all go for it! Lol. There’s a few that are in less, um…“urban” locations. I.E. safer: The Allerton Avenue and the Westchester Square locations…
By the way, my friends and I had a contest about a decade ago…I REALLY, REALLY don’t recommend it! I’ve never been the same since. Lolol
Well there is always Pugslies for a safer choice.
@dan Dan, do you have a rough idea of how many people from your team will be attending, and will GF be there on both days?
Over a dozen, if memory serves!
Wow! Can’t wait to meet everyone…
Thalmic Labs, the start up my son works for in Kitchener (Ontario, Canada) just raised $120 Million in a round 2 VC financing deal involving Intel Capital, The Amazon Alexa Fund and Fidelity Investments Canada. They also added Tara Kriese (formerly Samsung) as their new CMO and are opening an office in San Francisco. I think he made a good choice in joining Thalmic a few months back. Has a lot of the ring of Glowforge about it.
