@nunzioc You know me so well! I LOVE seafood - those clams! Razor Clams!!! They are calling me! The scallops! There’s a pool of drool in front of me - No Shame!

I was just thinking "Wow, poor vegetarians who stumble across this meat filled post…

Then I scroll down to the fish post and know exactly how any random Veggie may have felt on the other

(I am very anti-seafood. Good to know I may stumble across some sitting outside at random. Ugh.)

Oooh, sorry, I can’t help you in the anti seafood regard (but hey, it’s brain food, and a great source of Omega 3’s)…

But fear not, random vegetarians, for this neighborhood is a Mecca for you, as well!

Oh, and there’s more…who likes bread? who likes pastries?..stay tuned, will post those in a sec…

Ooops! My better half is not a fan of seafood either - he is a steak and potatoes type of guy. Although he will occasionally eat some crab, tuna and salmon but not much. Have you always been anti-seafood? I always wonder how can people not love it? But then again everyone has different taste buds. I for one despise Celery, ugh for sure.

Bread:

Madonia’s has the BEST olive loaf anywhere in the U.S. I’ll take a pic of it next time I get some…

While Addeo has THE BEST regular Italian bread. Doesn’t look like much, but it is! Two locations, very close to each other, like half a block away, lol

Oooh, and forgot to mention this awesome store of imported food, Teitel Brothers:

And for anyone who loves making their own espresso from scratch, including any and all kinds of espresso makers, from ones you put in a stove top, to fully automatic machines, there’s Cerini:

I’ve been with you this entire way, but for me it’s a nope on the coffee. Love the smell, just wished that it tasted like it smells. FAR too bitter for my tastes (frappuccino’s taste too much like coffee to me to be enjoyable). To each there own. Otherwise, I would LOVE to tour NYC’s food area’s with you. You know your way around and the good places to go. It sounds like a really great weekend trip.

Just wish I was going to NYMF…

That all looks good, but I want pizza and bagels.
Does the Bronx have any good pizza and bagels?

I hear you, and to each their own…I personally drink espresso with no sugar, lol. How about Cappuccino? You can make that really sweet and creamy…especially if you add the sugar to the milk before frothing it…

even with a 1/3 of the cup as sugar and another 1/3 as hot chocolate, it was still WAY to bitter for me to actually enjoy.

But I do love Hot Chocolate and I’ve had some fantastic stuff over in Europe. Hot Chocolate, with a chocolate bar dropped in, chocolate creamer added, with shaved chocolate on top. All that topped with whipped creme. YUM.

My dad used to own an amazing pizza shop, sold it a few years ago to retire…new owners skimp on the ingredients, so it’s not great anymore…oh well.

Full Moon Pizzeria on the corner of 187th and Arthur Avenue in the neighborhood I mentioned is ok.

Manhattan pizza mostly sucks, sadly, with a few exceptions. https://www.patinagroup.com/naples-45 is pretty good, though!

Queens, Bronx, and Brooklyn Pizza is good at most places.

And yeah, bagels are incredible everywhere in NYC…pretty much any shop with a breakfast selection / grill will have great bagels. Obviously stay away from Dunkin Donuts for bagels, since you get the soft par boiled ones, same as anywhere in the US (yuck!)

I can feel my veins starting to clog just looking at all those different sausages. I don;t suppose they sell venison summer sausage do they? I try to pick some of that each trip through Wisconsin.

Are you a tour guide?

I would love to visit all of these places.

Sorry, no, not that I’ve ever seen…it’s all about Southern Italian food in that area. Oh, and I forgot about delis and Italian cold cuts!

That would be a great gig, right?!

These places in the pics are all in an area about 3 blocks x 3 blocks; not every big at all…

This is where you will find everything:

Also, the Bronx Zoo is only a few blocks away, and the Bronx Botanical Gardens is across the street from the Zoo. Fordham University campus is right there as well.

Just noticed the Copyright “Courtney Shapiro” in the bottom corner of that lower picture. Maybe another talented member of @dan’s family?

Is pastrami an Italian meat? It’s hard to find a good Pastrami sandwich in my neighborhood.

No, unfortunately not…but you can definitely get great pastrami in NYC…Katz’ Deli, Carnegie Deli, OMG!

It was cruel to post that picture right at lunchtime!

+5! Arthur Avenue is the best (unless you’re in Brooklyn - head to Grimaldis for the best pizza on the planet). I sent 2 kids to Fordham so we’d have an excuse to visit Arthur Ave
