This is not unusual when engraving acrylic. It’s been discussed many times in the past, here’s an example where I added a test piece that was engraved at different settings. The only way I’ve been able to deal with it is to play around like this until I find the setting that I’m happy with.
Hello All,
Wondering if anyone else has this issue, I did a 3D engrave on PG medium white acrylic and I got some banding that happened. I had seen this before but not as pronounced. I fixed this by scraping the bands down with a tool, however you can still see the banding.
What is strange is it happened like 3 inches up into the print for about an inch and a half and then again near the end of the print in the text at the top. The text was all the same color (so the same depth).

The issue presented Here in this thread which was closed is something I think we have all encountered, and I would like to understand in order to mitigate it better if possible.
I’m pretty sure that is mechanically introduced, and I can’t help but notice that some of the spacing, by eye, looks suspiciously similar to the width of the cogs on the inside of the belts.
Yeah, a second defocused pass can help a lot - but what is the root? If it is the belts introducing that, it is inhere…
Here is another:
Has anyone run into this issue when engraving on clear acrylic? The customer sent an image that looks something like a finger print. Attached is the proof I sent them which would obviously be inverted for engraving, and it came out ok, but there is some kind of vertical banding going on that is not seen in the digital image. I have engraved photos on clear acrylic before and have not seen this issue. Any idea what might be happening here?
