I turned machine off and on in addition to my computer. i move head below camera still nothing PLEASE PLEASE help!

And it keeps focusing and honing

If I encountered this problem, the first thing I’d do is to clean the contacts between the head and the carriage plate the head clicks onto. There are several gold “pogo pins” on the bottom the head that contact corresponding gold pads on the carriage plate. If there’s a film of crud on them that prevents a good connection, the machine wouldn’t find the head.

Hopefully it’s just that and not something more serious…

The next thing I’d check is the ribbon cable that connects the head to the rest of the machine. There are two things to check. 1) The connection between the cable and the head. 2) The cable itself.

There’s a connector on the end of the cable that plugs into a socket on the head. If that connection is bad, the machine wouldn’t find the head. Near the beginning of the instructions for cleaning the air assist fan (here) they show you how to unplug the cable from the head. Once you have them apart, look carefully to make sure the tiny pins inside the socket on the head are all there and that none are bent.

While you have the cable unplugged, have a careful look at it to make sure it’s not damaged anywhere along its length. Folks have inadvertently damaged it while removing the head from the carriage plate or while replacing it during normal cleaning.

If it all looks good, plug the cable back into the head. (There are instructions at the end of “cleaning the air assist.” instructions.) Sometimes all it takes to make the connection good again is to unplug and plug in again.

If all that fails, I’ve noticed that sometimes Support has recommended doing the complete “cleaning the air assist” process to solve a “head not found” issue. And that sometimes it worked!

Once I’d done those steps, if it still didn’t work, my next step would be to contact the official support folks.
