I was mid project and the laser just stopped working… the tube isn’t glowing anymore, the machine is going through the motions, but isn’t engraving or cutting anything. Please help? I have several orders promised to go out before next week and no working machine! Any ideas??
Check the white cable that attaches to the laser head, make sure it hasn’t come loose.

If you browse this forum, support’s standard response is along the lines of:
We’ll need to investigate the logs from a completed print, including this lid image, in order to best diagnose the issue.
Could you please do the following for me?
Turn off your Glowforge, then turn it back on
We included an extra piece of Proofgrade Draftboard with your materials shipment for troubleshooting. Place the Proofgrade Draftboard in the center of the bed and print the Gift of Good measure using the default settings. Allow the print to finish
When the print finishes, leave the lid closed and wait until the fans stop and the picture updates
Check the completed print:
If the Gift of Good Measure fails to engrave, please let us know the date and time of the print
If the Gift of Good Measure engraves successfully, please try another print of the design you sent us. Engrave the design on Proofgrade Draftboard using Proofgrade settings. When the print finishes, leave the lid closed and wait until the fans stop and the picture updates.
If the issue still occurs, please let us know the date and time of the finished print
Thank you in advance!
(The connection to the head has no bearing on whether the laser tube glows while printing)

It might be the lid cable…there is a list of things to eliminate, so running these tests will put you ahead of the game:
Although “Stuck in Centering/Focusing” looks the same to the customers, it can be caused by a bunch of different things, and it’s easier for Glowforge to analyze it individually by looking at the machine logs than it is for us to do it. That’s why they don’t post solutions here. It can make things worse if the customers get the wrong “cause” and start trying to fix it without knowing what’s causing it.
If you want to start running through a process of elimination to eliminate other causes whil…

I see you already emailed us about this and we’re working on it there, so I’m going to close this topic.
