When I was setting up my glowforge on Monday Dec 11, I noticed what appears to me to be a stress fracture in the ZnSe optical element on the side of the laser head. The feature in question can be seen at about 5 0’clock in the attached image. It appears to start at the edge of the crystal near the hemispherical gap in the mounting hole… I don’t think that it is affecting the operation of my glowforge at this time, but if it grows, I suspect that it will have a deleterious affect on the beam profile. It is hard to get a good picture of this feature.
