Is anyone else having trouble with pro passthrough not working?
It is not the laser head. I am able to cut normal files no problem. But as soon as I try passthrough it automatically says it doesn’t work. I’m thinking it is an issue caused by the software update? anyone else having this issue or have any advice on how to fix this issue?
I believe that the update was simply a change in the appearance of the interface, and nothing to do with the machine performance.
If you have been successfully using the passthrough and now you cannot, I suggest trying a different browser. Sometimes browsers update in the background, and pop up blockers and other firewall settings cause temporary glitches.
Oh wow, I haven’t heard that one before! I have tried everything BUT that. I wouldn’t have even thought to do that. Thank you!! Definitely going to try that out.
This is a better solution than what the tech support suggested. Your response is so appreciated!!

With the new update it disappeared for me
If using a different browser also doesn’t show the passthrough in the menu, I suggest contacting Glowforge support.
I’ve never seen an error that says “it doesn’t work” - can you be more specific?
Is the option available? Is your artwork positioned so it does not fit in the printable area? Does the job start then an error appears?
I tried it on Firefox and google chrome. It unfortunately is still not working.
There is a quick glitch that says print unsuccessful when it is warming up, then when it should start printing it says print unsuccessful. “the most recent print finished, press align manually to continue printing” but nothing was printed to begin with.
oh, and I was originally using it on safari. so it did not work on 3 different browsers
I remember something like this happening to me before the passthrough feature was officially released - some of us were testing it out and had more direct contact with the team to provide feedback and get assistance.
IIRC, it had gotten “stuck” somehow on the server side, so they had to reset it on there end.
Back before they had the feature, I had a system I still prefer as I have more control. First I break the design how I want it to break, avoiding breaking it except on vertical lines.
Next, I place the design and material hard on the right-hand side. This fixes the X direction and rotation. Then using Set Focus I place the design as It fits on the hard right, and cut the first part.
At that point you can slide the material down using the rail to keep the X value and rotation fixed. Then using the up and/or down arrow only and Set Focus again you can very precisely line up the vertical ends and cut the next piece. Then if there are more pieces you just repeat.
If each piece is 10.75" or less top to bottom this works but there may be less if there is a part sticking up or down. Where the part above or below is sticking out Glowforge will not try to cut it as it will only cut the whole piece.
