When I first got my forge, the front lip detached. I just slapped some tape on it, it’s been fine. A few weeks ago, the same happened on the back hinge, and it ripped the little plug in one of the images. I can solder the plug non problem, but has anyone else seen this? If so, what type of glue can be used to reattach the metal to glass?
As this is your first post, I assume the machine is still in warranty? You should contact support to arrange a replacement.
This isn’t common, but it’s not unique. Some machines have had the lid attachment fail. Out of warranty some owners have been able to re-attach it, but you are entitled to a working machine, and the company needs to know about quality issues.
This happened to me as well after my warranty had expired. I scrapped off as much of the original glue/epoxy as possible, cleaned it with acetone and then used JB Weld to epoxy it back together (not JB Quick), and it has held together for over a year now.
Thanks all, yes - it was out of warranty. They offered a refurb replacement, but the shipping costs both ways have me looking at a different piece of hardware.
I was able to re-attach it, but now seeing issues w/ the “lid-open” warning…and anything I’ve done to work around it has failed.
