I believe the vinyl is not safe for lasering. You could make them out of acrylic

Clocks like these look great out of matte black acrylic. Making them from old vinyl records will ruin the Glowforge. Not damage - ruin.

The Glowforge laser is even more susceptible to the corrosive effects than most lasers. The CEO of Glowforge has reported unit failures after a single attempt at cutting PVC.
There was a post here that someone flagged because it talked about cutting vinyl. I removed it because it’s potentially harmful. Lasering actual vinyl will permanently damage your Glowforge beyond repair, and it happens almost immediately - even one print can destroy your machine. It’s also potentially hazardous to you, since it releases corrosive gas.

Now, if you’re asking if anyone has done something like this out of acrylic - then yes! Though a light instead of a clock
This one was in the making for awhile, but i finally finished it up recently. My brother in-law’s band, Palette-Swap Ninja , released a parody album that mixed Star Wars and Sgt. Pepper’s.
I made this record light as a Christmas gift for him.

It is made from layered acrylic and plywood with some of the PG walnut veneer on the side.

Could someone with the correct rights move this out of the “Made on a Glowforge” category so someone browsing doesn’t see a picture of a cut record and think its ok to do.

Maybe we need a “Don’t make this on a Glowforge!” Category
