I found this on the Instructables site and thought others may find interest also. Not sure I’d make an exact copy but it’s a good base to jump from. It includes a PDF for this design.

That gives me an idea. Use GF to make a dotted line on both sides of the book near the binding, then secure 10 or 20 or so papers to the GF with magnets and do the same dot pattern. Fill up the book with paper until stitching makes sense
