Revisiting Laser Foil

Many of our discussions regarding Laser Foil are quite old, and I continue to see people trying to find ways to introduce color and shine to various materials. This video is from Trotec, but a Glowforge can reap the same benefits from the material.

A new rabbit hole to explore. It’s starting to look like swiss cheese around here

I used laser foil on some tiles back in 2018.

and subsequently made this one…

Your post was one of the first regarding this bit of shine, but I thought I would bring up the topic again after I stumbled on this multi color use of Laser Foil. I only have two colors because it is so expensive, but I had not considered using more than one color in a project or engraving and then applying the foil. Everything old is new again.

I’m glad you did bring it up again. It is expensive, but I still have some left. I may now have to visit it again in a new way.

Wow that last example with the resin was stunning. This will level up the Christmas ornaments this year. Thanks for posting!

Good morning ,
I have a glow forge Aura and my granddaughter is performing Beauty and the beast for the first time. I am trying to add a picture of the beauty and the beast and text saying my first performance and the dates of her show on an acrylic but it’s not showing, can I use the fold on acrylic?

Concerning the laser foil… I saw the video on this just this morning. Fantastic. I am relatively new to Glowforge and am still learning but this is my sort of thing. Only trouble we have in the Uk is finding suppliers that dont cost the earth for materials

Welcome to the forum.

The LaserFoil can be used on acrylic. For your project you also might consider paint filling your engrave. It is a quick, inexpensive way to get contrast.

I’ve never seen this before so I’m super excited to try it. Have no idea on how to accomplish this so I will need to read up on that. Thanks tons for bringing this topic up again!!:grinning:

Quick Question where do you get your foil tape from? I am looking on line and unsure if laser laminate is the same type of foil.

LaserFoil is a specific brand sold by Johnson Plastics Plus and GS2 Awards and others.
