Scanned with GF, exported as SVG. Now I can't clean up the image?

I scanned a handprint with my GF and saved as svg file. Now I have it open in Inkscape but It won’t let me clean any part of it up. I can’t see any nodes or anything.

What am I missing?

A scanned image is a jpeg, even if it is inside of an svg file. Perhaps try cleaning it up in photo editting software or trace it in Inkscape.

Glowforge Interface - Using the Trace Tool

Your best bet is to save that as a .png file and open it in a raster editor (GIMP, Photoshop, GetPaint.net). Inkscape will open the .svg container just fine, but it’s designed to work on vectors, and only has limited editing ability for rasters (which the scan will be). If you don’t have the ability to change it, you can open it Inkscape, and then in the File menu click Export PNG - you’ll then have a .png in the same folder you have the .svg saved in (with a name something like “Exported Image…
