Settings and/or tips for engraving steak?

Hey all-

I have a friend who wants to engrave a steak for a going away present to give to a co-worker. I’ve never done steak before.

Any tips on settings, type of meat, or anything else that will make my trial and error efforts less perilous?

(thank you in advance)

I feel like someone did this already. Lets see what a steak search provides…

@mike15 didn’t provide settings, because “made on a glowforge” section doesn’t allow them. Maybe they’ll chime in here?

Hey Tony, good to see you again… :slightly_smiling_face:

All I can offer is my experience with leather: No masking , very low power - I’d say 2 or 3 percent. Very fast, and around 270-340 LPI.

That tattoos it without charring it, and if you need to darken it, a second pass works very well.

Good luck! Hope it turns out okay.

What if it’s a :proofgrade: steak?
