I have an issue where detailed engraving has resulted in shaky linework. I recently cleaned the laser carriage and have noticed that it moves not as smoothly as it did when first acquired. This non-smooth travel has been happening for about a year. And the smooth tape on the underside of the gantry is gone. Is it the carriage wheels perhaps? If so, is that an easy thing to replace?

Starting at the last, yes gantry wheels are available in the shop and not terribly hard to replace.
I’d check your belt tooth by tooth and see if one/some of them has a crack developing…or change the belt out anyway - the fact that you can feel it being less smooth it’s very likely one of those two (or both).
