This project was inspired by the work of Tim_ung ( Wood Spiral Table Lamp ) and ( Angular Wood Shell Lamp – Glowforge Shop ). I added a diffuser to the bulb, and a 30 degree cut across the top. I used a very simple candela bulb socket available from Amazon. To protect the top prongs I experimented with a frosted plex disk, and a simple ring. The disc would need to be removed to change the bulb, so it can’t be glued in, but stays there nicely. I would like to know which design folks like better! Wood is Glowforge walnut ply. The diffuser is Vellum, but rice paper would look very nice as well. It is designed as a nightstand light.
Awesome. It looks great!
Either way it is a beautiful piece, but I like the one with the frosted flex disk a little better because it emphasizes the angular top. Thanks for the inspiration.
That looks amazing!!
Congratulations @matt22, both are beautiful designs, but my personal favorite would be the first design with the frosted plex disk at the 30º cut, it looks elegant and interesting.
Hard to say which is best, but you did a great job!
I love the artistry of Tim Ung’s piece, but yours is one I could see having in my klutz prone & light sensitive house! The angle cut also makes me happy for unknown reasons.
Beautiful work ![]()
I actually like the one without the frosted top better, but that one might be easier to dust and keep spider webs out of. Either way, they are both amazing!
Very nice! For me, personally, I prefer the look of the one without the top.
It looks great! I like the ring one the best!
that looks great, very Scandinavian
thank you! that’s nice.
