I made a Star S’mores diorama last week out of marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate in order to help a friend participating in a contest (The Rogue Hunt) where she and her team had to make/create a large number of items within a week. She and I used to compete together in a similar contest called GISH (that no longer exists), so she knew that I had engraved a person’s face onto a marshmallow previously (this post right here).
Star S’Mores was a Sesame Street parody of Star Wars. I chose to recreate a scene with Flan Solo, Luke Piewalker and Chewy on the bridge of what is presumably the Millennium Falcon.
It was fairly easy to dial in the settings to cut the graham cracker but I had to play with the engrave settings to get the marshmallow engraves just right. I used jumbo marshmallows and cut a chunk that was about 3/8 inch thick and set it on top of a piece of masking right on the honeycomb tray.
The judging takes months but I will try to remember to update! There are hundreds of teams and around 125 items that each team could submit…so it takes a while to go through.
Oh my Cass!! I used to GISH too!! I haven’t tried the Rogue hunt yet. I really miss my week of crazy. I love your use of the Glowforge! I used mine in the final hunt to make a picture in a walnut. Super fun!
