Small flexible mesh around wires in Pro dislodged?

UPDATE: Glowforge support said to remove the piece. Thank you all for the help!!

Hi all! I’ve got a little piece of flexible mesh material in the left side of my Pro that seems to be totally loose and not attached to anything. I’m guessing its some kind of protective mesh for the wires but it seems to be dislodged from however it was supposed to be. Does anybody know anything about this or could anybody provide a photo of how this mesh looks in their Pro? Any help is much appreciated, I’m afraid to run my machine again until I figure out where this goes!

There is nothing like this in my pro. I think you should remove the mesh and fire up your machine. I have seen many pictures of the daughter board and never seen anything like this. I don’t think it came from your machine.

I don’t have a pro, but it looks like a piece of wear-protection wrap. If it’s not near any moving parts or in the path of the beam, it’s not going to hurt anything. Probably was glued down somewhere until the glue gave up the ghost. If you can’t see where it came from, and it’s not stuck down, you can most likely remove it (it’s not doing what it as designed for, anyway…)

I think it’s the mesh that protects the red wire from abrasion and short circuits on the gantry. I would probably try to reach out to support to be sure that’s what it is and see if it should be repositioned so that it can do its job.

Glad you got an answer and can now run your machine worry free!
