Ran into this issue today… for the past two months I’ve been getting the “unexpected error” message and I just reload my design and it was fine.
Today however I booted up my machine and it starts calibrating and then I get stuck on Scanning for ages.
I have reconnected wifi. Cleaned the lens. All the cables looked fine. Tried a hard reset. Nothing is helping. I did put in a support ticket but it is Sunday. I have a few projects to do for a client and I was hoping to get some of them done today since they are Christmas gifts for their family.
Any advice would be super helpful. I currently have a spark and can only use an iPad for my app.
Welcome to the community. Sorry you’ve run into some issues with your Spark.
Only thing I’ve ever really done that helped me was to close my browser and reopen or try a different browser. Sometimes the wifi signal drops out which can cause this kind of problem.
You should not do a hard reset on your machine as it destroys the operational logs that are generated…which support can use to diagnose issues.
Probably some more folks will chime in with other ideas and suggestions. Best of luck to you.
Now that I think about it. Roughly a month ago we had a power outage. I haven’t used my machine in three months probably so I didn’t think anything about it.
Is there an effective way to reconnect my machine to wifi? (I have already tried it twice on setup.glowforge)
If there was a spike that toasted/hit the wifi card and it’s been slowly dying till now, not really. But there have been bizarre things that have altered the wifi signals in places that prevented GFs from working also.
Could be a new device, new neighbor devices sitting on the same 2.4ghz causing the GF to “hear” a garbled mess instead of a clear chat with your router. One person had an appletv prevent his CO2 GF from connecting.
Lots of possible issues. Your support ticket will likely net the best recourse.
