Sparking when coming in contact with hardwood!

Is sparking when cutting hardwood normal or will it mess up the machine?

Different materials have different flame levels based on the resin content. You’ll see a small candle flame sometimes, but the most important part is to watch the air flow under the head - it should be strong and will blow the flame out towards the front of the machine.

If you see a flame that does not go out after the head moves away from the area, stop the print by opening the lid slightly and letting it close again, or pause it by pressing the white button. If you want to continue the print after pausing, press the button again but do not open the lid.
