Squares not square (Replacement unit fixed problem)

I really don’t remember this being reported before. So I did a search and didn’t find any one having a problem like this. But I did find:

Making a hardwood chess board

I’ve been wanting to make a nice chess board for a while. GF to the rescue. I went to the wood store yesterday to get more Baltic Birch plywood (I go through it quickly). While I was there, I saw some 1/4in thick pieces of exotic woods. I picked up a few to try them out. I got some yellowheart and some black walnut. [image] I did some tests cuts. Halloween Checkers

My daughter wanted to make a chess set with a Halloween theme. I thought that was a little complicated, but a Halloween checkers set is very doable. [image] It’s all Baltic birch, stained different colors.

The first one would have shown this problem because 1) they are making some squares close to the edge, and 2) they rotated the grain, which would have caused the discrepancies to accumulated.

If anyone wants to test their machine they don’t need calipers to see the effect, they just need to keep track of the orientation and make two rows of a chess board.

It will be interesting to see what support has to say. I mean, after they ask ‘Was this on proofgrade?’ and ‘Try it again and make sure your material is flat.’
