Stamp engraving difficulties

I have a question if anyone could maybe help I was engraving rubber to make stamps but some of the parts of the not engraved part engraved a little bit if that makes sense I was wondering what I would have to do to make sure everything I didn’t want engraved stayed flush if you look at the pictures the flowers are what is the problem area is it just that the lines are too small/thin ? I’ve included pictures of the original file and the stamp

“Too thin” depends on the scale of your stamp. My suggestion would be to open it in your vector editor, scale it to be exactly how large your stamp should be, and then use the ruler tool in your editor to see how thin your flower lines are.

So now that we have the actual size you used, determining what’s too thin sort of depends on the material and your settings. I think empirically we can say that they’re too thin here, since they failed. I’d measure them and then adjust the design to make the flower lines twice as thick and try again.

There are ways to do this that are easier and ways that are harder. If you’re not sure of how to pull it off I’m sure one of us can help. You’ll have to upload your svg here so that we could take a crack at it.

In addition to the above, how you ink your stamp makes a difference. You need to tap-tap-tap the stamp pad gently all over your image and get it well covered. If you have a stamp positioner (Google Misti stamp positioner for an example), you could re-ink the stamp and re-stamp in the exact same spot to get better coverage. Some people do this 3 or 4 times before the image is completely stamped to their liking.

It’s also possible that your ink pad is too dry. Do you have some re-inker you can add?

This is what I love about the forum, so many people with so many specific skills. I never knew that about stamping, cool.

Yes that’s consistent with over burning and overly thin lines. Again I would adjust your design to have wider lines, the laser will overburn slightly and they will be thinner than you expect them to be.

Also be sure your graphic is black and white and there’s no gray in the lines that would cause it to be engraved just a little. Probably not the case but thought I’d mention it…

Another thing that is sometimes helpful with small details and thin lines is to ramp the edges of those details. It’s a bit more complicated than just using the built-in tool, but might be worth exploring. @cynd11 wrote a tutorial on doing that:
