Hello. I had posted in a different thread but think this might be a new issue so posting it here.
I had an issue where my pro was acting like it was cutting a job but the laser was not firing. I was getting help from GF over phone and waiting on info back from them and so called back and got somebody else. The new person said I needed a new head and was going to send me an email with the cost. While waiting on that, I then heard back from the first person I spoke to and they said they determined I needed to replace the machine. They at one point said to reach to wire grass and that I can get it worked on there earlier in the support process. So with all the options I reached to wiregrass and discussed the pulling of the red wire to see if damaged. So I did that and sure enough it had a hole in it. I ordered their red wire kit and spliced the new wire in. I tried to run the gift of good measure. I first did an auto focus and everything moved fine. Then I went to start the job and, the gantry moved forward and then then stopped and I got a yellow light on the button and the lights went out. I restarted and tried to again to see what happened but the machine gets stuck in homing a centering and then eventually gives a head not found error. The gantry does not move at all. If I try to move it manually it moves but I think it feels like slight resistance. The new wire is not binding or obstructing that I can tell. I checked all connections and everything seems ok but the head cable did not seem to click into place but does seat fully. I tried to pull up the tab a little on the white ribbon in the head to make it click and the tab was a little brittle and broke off. I am not sure if that is the issue. I am hoping for some guidance as I am a little frustrated that I am getting conflicting “what’s wrong with it” answers from Glowforge. I never was given the price on the new head and they wanted to offer me a discount on a new machine to send my old one in. The replacement is same price I paid for the original one.
Any advice is super appreciated.
Thank you,
Mike
