Kinda weird about showing my work on here but I finished an art piece that mainly made use of my glowforge. It’s 64 8” squares that are all rearrangeable and can be hung in any of their 4 sides. If you’re in Chicago this month it’ll be hanging in a window in Lincoln Square as of Wednesday.
That’s pretty cool!
Congratulations on the installation!
Tell us more, tell us more!
My brain hurts after looking at this
Wow that’s quite stunning thanks for sharing
I love all the little random details from ‘found’ materials
It’s essentially about how people interact with other people. How we all have similarities and that sometimes our lives and personalities mesh and sometimes they don’t. It very intentionally matches some things and others do not so no pieces ever fully “connect.”
Super cool. Congrats!
I like so much about this piece. Thanks for sharing.
That’s a great explanation. Now I’m going to go back and review the details. I noticed symbols on some of the rings. Do they have specific meanings?
Oh, wow — that’s amazing!
There’s a total of 4 images that go across the layers; a mandala of the front and back of a skull, a torus yantra, a brain, and a Kālacakra mandala. The text in the yellow sections is from pages of a dictionary. There are also 16 maps, split between 4 tiles each, in the blue area. Numbers in gray are compass degrees.
I love seeing people make art with a laser. It’s inspiring!
Wow. The detail is amazing. Congratulations!
You were going to get my like just for the name but then I saw it and wished I could like it again.
Ever since I learned about symbiosis (most of my education is erudite and not formal) I’ve said it is at least as important to evolution and human interaction as competition. You showed this very well in your art.
That’s a lot of work! It looks great
You should never feel weird about showing your creations on the forum. We love stuff like this. That looks great, and congrats on having it displayed publicly!
This is absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Way cool. I’m having trouble imagining the scale, looking forward to seeing a picture of the installation!
