I think you are referring to 'Trace", an option on the upper left of the UI. Just click that and follow the directions.

i did and it doesnt work as designed.
the only thing it did was engrave the border of my recipe and not the whole thing
The trace feature needs a good high-contrast image. You may need to scan it . got a picture of it?
The trace feature is designed for very crude reproductions of, for example, kids’ scribbles with a crayon or sharpie to make simple keychains. It is not a precise tool.
