Just got GF #3 in today in as many months. Of course, it doesn’t work. Says lid open. I’ve rebooted, rebooted the wifi, triple checked the lid is indeed closed. checked all the connectors on the lid…any suggestions?
Yeah, go buy a lottery ticket.
(When your luck turns, it’s gonna be a sight to behold.)
All three fail the same way? Lid not closed?
I don’t remember if it’s a different error message, but have you checked the front door to make sure it’s closed?
No, three different failures…but all failed, nonetheless
My fourth machine has been solid, if that gives you any hope.
Well, it kinda concerns me that I’ve gone through one a month, and eventually, there will be no warranty to help with that. And doing without a machine for three weeks at a time is certainly not good for business. I understand that it’s recommended that you get a second machine for a backup for business…but I’m hesitant to spend another chunk of change on one if it’s gonna be a continual process of packing it up, lugging it up and down the stairs, shipping it off, and waiting another week for the replacement to arrive…and hoping it works when it gets here.
Ok, I hate to be defeated, so I’ve been going through this thing with a fine toothed comb. I had double checked and triple checked all the ribbon connectors to make sure they were secure, and they were. But, I’m old and have bad eyesight, so I went downstairs and got a keyhole camera to get an up close view of all the connections to see if there was any damage.
The black ribbon connector on the back of the lid was ever so slightly crooked. Figured it couldn’t be enough to make any real difference, but I opened the connector, repositioned the cable and snapped the connector shut.
Lo and behold, that seems to have done the trick. Jeez, this thing is gonna be the death of me. Where’s that blood pressure cuff?
I’m happy it was an easy fix.
Where’s that blood pressure cuff?
You don’t need one now!
The difference between “easy fix” and “can’t do a thing with it” is amazingly small. It really gives a lot of respect for NASA but these are not like your lawnmower either
Wow, great catch @robermar36, I’m glad to hear you are back to printing! I’m going to close this thread - if you run into any other trouble, go ahead and post a new topic. Thanks for letting us know about this!
