I’m trying to trace a flat object and it only shows engrave when I want to cut it. What am I doing wrong?
Nothing. Trace is designed to produce a raster image for engraving simple designs like kids crayon sketches onto keychains and such. It uses the lid camera so it is not a precision tool.
If you pay for “Premium Tools”, use the “Create Outline” function to create a cut path, then delete the engrave if not needed.
If you aren’t paying for the tools, export the traced image to a real design app and create your cut path from there.

Actually, trace does work if you do it correctly. What you want to do is click on the white area just outside the figure you want a cut line for. If you click on the figure itself you probably won’t get a cut line.
