Trouble connecting to wifi

i had my sparks for a years and i just moved and i am trying to connect my sparks but after I plug in is not doing anything.

If you have changed wifi providers, you will need to setup your machine for the new wifi. Hold the print button until it flashes teal, then go through the setup as you did when you first got your machine. Also, you must have a 2.4gHz signal in your new home, not just 5G. The Glowforge cannot use 5G.

Dklgood’s advice is great, since you moved it may be a wifi service thing. Just to be sure there’s no confusion:

5G is a standard for cell phones that is “fifth generation”.

What we mean with WiFi is 5GHz, which refers to the signal frequencies of the most modern and fastest generations of Wi-Fi routers. The Glowforge operates on the older but still almost universally supported 2.4 GHz standards.

Even if you are on a new Wi-Fi router with a new provider it is almost certain that 2.4 GHz WiFi is supported, you may need to speak with them if you don’t know how to set that up.

Actually only if you change the wifi name . If you bring your old router to your new place/provider, and you don’t change the wifi name, your GF doesn’t know that Comcast has changed to Spectrum for instance. Or if you setup a new router with the same name (& 2.4ghz band) your GF doesn’t know the router hardware is different.

And password to the network name.

This is correct (same SSID and passcode) in-general, and for the Glowforge, but possibly not in every case. It’s actually a security risk so be aware that in some cases, it may not work because the connecting device will look for the same BSSID. Why? To prevent device hijacking by spoofing (impersonating) a network. It’s been a few years since I’ve worked in this space so that may no longer be a concern, but it was pretty significant for us and our customers once-upon-a-time. Only corporate VPN-access would work on untrusted connections.
