I’m having trouble formatting a logo for etching. Usually I can find a work around and make things go ok, but this one is really a mystery to me. I’m sure it’s an easy fix for someone smarter though! I just have a jpeg for this (for my husband’s company). When I go in and set my settings for engraving a strange haze appears around the text. It does have a mask in the original file but I can’t seem to work around it. I don’t have access to the original graphics or any other file type. Anyone have a solution? I’m working in Affinity Designer just trying to cut out a patch for him.
Can you trace the jpeg in AD?

The haze is called Jpg artifacting - it happens when a jpg is saved at low quality causing the edges between colors to get messy. As you don’t have the original file your best bet is to redraw it.
