trying to engrave on a 1/2 peace of wood slice of log after i enter the settings and auto focus it still give me an error message not able to print?

Welcome to the forum.
Have you tried removing the honeycomb tray, placing your item on approximately 1 1/4" of material to elevate it and then using the set focus?

Look in the catalog for the ‘No Math Focus Tool’. It will show you where the focus range is with the tray removed.
