Uhm, my Glowforge is SINGING to me O-0

Hello, Every-body! Haven’t been around in ages, hope you’re all doing fine! Happy Holidays, Merry Everything and all that good stuff :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

So, I haven’t used my GF since last Christmas (3 surgeries and out of commission for a while).

Been trying to cut a tree ornament design.

First, it created the design beautifully, but it wouldn’t cut anything. Aside from that, everything else was fine…no strange noises, etc. Just kept fiddling with settings, bcz it wouldn’t cut.

So, I just shut it off, cleaned all the things, like I’ve done 1,000 times; put it all back together; pressed the magic button… and suddenly it sounds like a robot trying to sing me Christmas carols. I kid you not. Idk how else to describe it :sob:

It’s a bit unsettling, to be honest. Any ideas or advice?? Is it possessed by the Spirit of Christmas…or Chaos?? Should I have a fire extinguisher handy?? Idk wth to do, I have gifts and ornaments to make…

It depends, mine has always had a pleasant singing noise which was more noticeable when I removed the internal exhaust and opted for a quieter external fan. But if your sound is new, and it’s been out of commission for a while…might want to call a priest.

If it seems to function without issue and the movements are smooth, I’d just keep an eye on it while cutting. Maybe it developed a brain is and just singing for joy that is being used again…or it’s an AI robot trying to win you over before enacting it’s plan to take over your home.
