Update issues

Hi
I have had a Glowforge Pro since the beginning; bought on kickstarter. I have not had any issues with it until the latest software update Issues with realignment, focus, centering /homing and jumping sideways mid print. Anyone else had problems? I have cleaned all lenses and all still look good and clean.
Can I go back to the last software please I don’t need extra speed.
Thanks Duncan

Have you emailed or called support? Since participating her in the forums is not the primary method anymore it might be faster.

The issues that have been reported regarding the update have not been issues with focus, centering/homing. I would be surprised if the update is what is causing your problems. Are you using your regular settings when the jumping sideways behavior occurs? Can you share an example of what a print looks like when this happens?

Thanks. I have been using same settings for 5 years. No pictures as I thought they were anomalies. All in the bin. It started when during a run each line moved a step left so it looked like a gradual shift left till it stopped after shifting 5 mm or so. After that the alignment was out by the same amount. I fixed centering by putting the head under the camera before turning it on.
When focusing for new material the camera image does not adjust to give easy positioning. Before it would move in and allow positioning. The image position shown by the camera is out by the same 5mm I have mentioned before but cuts 5mm to the right of where I position the image.

Maybe I have to do another alignment programme and sacrifice a sheet.

Not contacted support. Can they do a remote diagnostic?

Oh it’s quite amazing what they can do.

Since all your prints forthwith the server they already have much of the data they need. Although they will likely want you to have run a test on the gift of good measure. Since it’s a known file.

A gradual shift sounds like a mechanical issue with that belt. I’d take it off an examine each tooth to see if you can find one that’s cracking/broken.

There’s also the option of doing a new calibration, but I’d only do that once you solve the wandering issue.

You can still zoom in up to like 1000%. Either by clicking the buttons or using your mouse wheel…if you mean Set Focus changing the view, that’s still true but they’ve updated the math enough that it had to be a pretty significant change (paper to 1/2" material) to be able to see it easily.

If you have a scrap skeleton sheet that has all four sides still, you can use a sheet of reasonable paper that is big enough and fix it to the skeleton (I used spray adhesive) and then run the Calibration on that. I have also used 16x20 posterboard. OTO folks have used the calibration marks as a pattern on boxes,
