Using Powder Coating with the glowforge

Anyone else experimented with using powder coating with the glowforge laser. Its very popular with other lasers however I have not seen anyone using a glowforge. I am unable to determine the settings to allow the power to melt without burning is why :frowning:

If you use the search function, you’ll find dozens of existing discussions about using powder coating materials.

You can certainly engrave powder coated items with the Glowforge and many have posted about it. Here is one such thread: Zippo engraving (with jig export file)

I think they are looking to set the powder-coat with the laser, not engrave previously powder-coated items.

I could be wrong, though…

I think you are right. The post should read “powder” to melt rather than power.

Thank you!!

I think it would be cool to set powder-coating onto an object in the desired pattern, rather than reverse-engraving a design into a previously powder-coated surface.

If I had access to small quantities of material, I’d love to experiment…

That sounds like exactly what I did in the post @dklgood shared above.

I’ve done both. Engraving a powder coated object seems to work better.
