My friend is graduating at the end of the month and will be a certified Radiologic Technologist. I made him this little walking man statue as a graduation gift. Both the back silhouette and the engraved acrylic come out of the stand. I can’t get a good pic of it, but the engraving glows in the dark.
I gotta say, that little stand kicked my butt. I went through so much material as everything that could go wrong, did go wrong and I had to remake it a couple of times. One of which didn’t happen until I glued it. I didn’t think the TitebondIII glue would set within a millisecond and I didn’t get things lined up in time. (Good glue, just be prepared!)
After the first skeleton engrave, I cleaned up the image and made a more detailed version (bottom pic.). I was going to re-cut the final piece and use the finer image, but ran out of acrylic. I am working on not being a perfectionist, but it’s tough :-/ Oh well, I need to order more acrylic, but it was a good learning experience.
Very effective use of the engraved acrylic contrasting the wood backing. Excellent subject matter and perfect as a gift for the graduate. Custom gifts. It’s the best thing!
You Sir, have good taste That beauty of a chair was my $99 flea market find. She has a prominent place in my front room so it’s one of the first things you see. I have yet to work on replacing her springs though so I have to be careful when using her.
