Walnut & Maple mantle clock

Everything is laser cut, except the walnut trim on top and sides that conceal the laser-cut box joints.

The box is maple plywood; hands and inlaid dial points are walnut.

Thanks. It’s not obvious, but all of the angles are echoed at other points in the design to try to make it more harmonious. For example, the taper of the hands is the same as the taper of the side trim.

To cut the latter on the table saw, I used a laser-cut jig to get the precise angle I wanted.

I think subtleties like that are perceived subconsciously. The design “feels” good as well as being visually pleasing.
