Wax Seal Stamp!

Hey folks, just an update for those following:

The problem of the wax sticking to the stamp may have a simple solution. The wax seems to want metal, so I placed a bit of aluminum duct tape over the stamp and smoothed it down into the concave engraved area, using a toothpick. Then I smoothed the nonstamping surface with a Teflon bone folder.

So, what worked best for me in using the stamp was:

  1. Melt wax onto your surface.
  2. Wait 5 seconds for it to cool a tiny bit.
  3. Place stamp on wax, pressing gently down but not too far. Let it sit there.
  4. Wait about 15 seconds for wax to cool, then pull off the stamp. No sticking!

And by the way, I made this out of acrylic, not Delrin. Stuck the finished stamp onto a circular Chinese domino-like tile with 2-sided Gorilla tape.

A fine metal burnisher could be the perfect tool for working the foil tape into the engraved design without puncture.

Organics do stick to organics better than they do to metal, but as olive oil or similar can replace those organic bonds the wax should not stick as easy,
