Weird lines on engraving

Hello all,

I’m getting these weird lines every time I engrave a photo. I tried three different wood types. BB, MDF, and maple

I suspect these are caused by material density variations.

If possible, suggest printing one on the same material rotated 90º. If the issue follows the orientation of the material, that pretty much confirms it.

If not, it would be a machine power issue.

I lightened the background and the problem seems to be gone. I guess it was just too dark?

That turned out great. All the detail looks really clear .

I’m so sorry to hear that you hit this snag, but I’m glad to hear that the trouble seems to be reduced when reducing the background color. As @eflyguy outlined, rotating the material in the future may point to a material density variation trouble.
