Why would Spark not recognize proofgrade on an Etsy file

I purchased a file on Etsy. Using proofgrade light cherry. Shows as an unrecognizable material. The laser goes through the motions but never touches the wood.

Switch files and it shows material is proofgrade and cuts perfectly.

What am I doing wrong?

Welcome to the forum.

It is a pretty common occurrence that material is not recognized, and it really is no problem. It also has nothing at all to do with the file being used. Simply select the material from the drop down menu at the top left of the interface and carry on. After selecting the Proofgrade material, double check that Proofgrade settings are autopopulating.

I’ll also add that the stickers are noticeably thicker than the masking, so I’d suggest either removing it - or flip it so it’s face down. Since the PG is finished the same on both sides it shouldn’t matter to your design!

It is odd that it was recognizing it during one cut, but not the next, but it’s a common enough symptom that we all ignore it
