Wifi Connect Help

Trying to connect our glowforge and realizing we have a landing/splash page with the wifi at our current apartment (which I do not think glowforge supports at this time).

Does anyone have any workarounds for this so we can connect our machine?

I don’t know what a landing/splash page is, but have you considered using your phone as a hotspot?

I would contact the person who set up your WiFi and ask them for assistance. That is a WiFi access point specific setting that they should be able to help you get around.

Tell them it needs the same access as an IoT device like a security camera.

I see you already emailed us about this. I followed up yesterday afternoon with some additional advice, which I’ll share here as well. If you’re unable to have those settings changed (as others in this thread have suggested), there’s the option to connect your Glowforge via hotspot.

Your Glowforge needs internet access. However, it does not need to be connected to the same network as the computer, phone, or tablet you are using to print. If the network you’re using has a landing/splash page, you’ll need to connect the Glowforge to a different network.

For example, you can create a hotspot on your cell phone and use that network to connect your Glowforge to Wi-Fi.

You can find instructions online to help you create a Wi-Fi hotspot from your cell phone. Make sure that you set it up to be a 2.4 GHz hotspot, since that is the frequency your Glowforge uses.

Once the Wi-Fi hotspot is broadcasting, you can connect to it by following these steps:

  1. Turn on your Glowforge.
  2. Wait 30 seconds. Then hold down the button for ten seconds until it glows teal.
  3. Navigate to setup.glowforge.com and follow the instructions on-screen. When prompted to connect your Glowforge to Wi-Fi, choose the hotspot you created.
  4. Once Wi-Fi setup is complete, go to app.glowforge.com and try a few prints.

I hope this helps. I’m going to close this thread. If you need further help, we can keep working on it via email.
