My son needed a wine gift box for his sister-in-law and wanted to know if I could make one with the Glowforge. The challenge was incorporating a picture of her into the design.
I planned to use the masking/cutting technique that I’d brainstormed in my Fotoscenes (The Mad Robot) to have some artwork to embellish it with, but the tall, narrow design of the box would make it pretty small since each face is only about 4" wide. Didn’t like that.
Then, I got the idea of splitting the design in two along the vertical axis and “wrapping the corner” with the two pieces. That worked really well and produced the nice, customized wine gift box in the pictures below.
