Wish box

This is a prototype of a trinket box that I’ve been tinkering around with for a while now. The artwork is my design, and the box is from this post: Four Different Boxes with Sitting Lids. The first time I tried printing the lid design I used the engrave setting, which turned out to be a total disaster. The second attempt I used the score setting and it generated this funky effect, which I kinda like! I’m still debating whether or not to put designs on the sides.

So glad to see the boxes being useful! I actually really like the score design. I’ve been using scoring for a lot of things and it can look so clean. It’s still easy to see this is a dandelion.

If you drop the svg into Gimp and turn the vectors into paths, You can use the paths to gradient the stuff from black on the edge to white in the middle giving more 3D to the engraving.

I’m gonna have to try that out - thanks!

I thought it was a stylized Covid.

Liked it though.

Where it just magically blows away?

Here is the updated box. I added words on both sides of the lid with the trial software (I eyeballed the inside text) and used the draft engrave setting for the dandelion. I’m really happy how this turned out - all that’s left is a poly coat and figuring out what color felt to line it with.
