If the cable isn’t in the connector /just right/, the pins won’t line up the way they’re supposed to, and it’ll short out from that. So replacing the cable is what did it, unfortunately. You’re not the first to lose this circuit board in the process of replacing that cable.
Preformatted textI’m back! Black cable instillation was a fail, reviewed it with others, so I know it was done correctly. Zero lights. And after further inspection, a burnt board.

We thought we needed to replace our black lid cable when our print head was stuck, (did not move at all when GF was powered on). While replacing the cable we noticed that one one of the circuit boards was burnt.

Has anyone else had this happen? Can it be replaced? Would it have affected anything else? We have been without our GF for 2 weeks now trying to get it working again. It has “KILLED” our business and Christmas orders.
Any advice or what to do is MUCH appreciat…
I received my new black cable and replaced it this evening, painstakingly going through all the steps to get it perfectly in place. When everything was in place, I plugged the machine in and turned it on and saw a faint pink-red glow from behind the laser tube. Then a tiny puff of smoke appeared under the glass so I quickly unplugged it. It smelled horrible and I grabbed the flashlight again, looking for the source and found the circuit board where I had inserted the black cable appeared burn…
