Did I miss a fix/switch for this that doesn’t involve running an extension?
If so, I urge Glowforge to allow users of the forge to disable the chat function.

I despise it as well, it was disucssed when introduced but they refuse to do anything about it - which is ironic considering they want you to watch every print, but them put in a “feature” to encourage you to walk away and not pay attention.

I imagine it’s a cost saving measure. The app puts a place to vent about or ask questions about print problems right in your face while they’re happening. Users will do so there instead of opening a support ticket or calling the phone line, so less work for the customer support team.

You’re right it should be something you can permanently hide.
But it isn’t.
So I’d recommend taking the 5 minutes (at most) to install stylebot and block it.
No you shouldn’t have to use an extension, you’re absolutely right. But you can be right and have the chat bugging you every time or you can be right and use an extension to make it go away. I chose the latter.
