Dymaxion Map

The Dymaxion Map projection was designed by Buckminster Fuller and is intended to be a more accurate representation of the Earth’s surface on a 2D plane. A slight modification maps the surfaces onto the faces of an icosahedron so it can be folded up into a globe. Behold!

Cut out of Proofgrade maple and assembled using – get this – gaffer tape. (I spent way too long trying to use magnets, ended up giving up after the unassembled pieces lay in my workshop for a couple of months.)

The Flat Earth Society would be proud.

That looks pretty rad. If tape works, it works.

I like how yours has no visible connectors. Good application for @geek2nurse’s icosahedron.

That looks great! Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one!

Glad you were able to complete your project! Looks good.

Some kind of Solid thing is on my list of projects for the Great Isolalation, and a globe like this is a cool idea. Love yours!

OMG, I’ll make an Isolation Isohedron. :open_mouth:
Trademarking that!!!
