Tried something new this weekend…engraving paper / notecards. I like the way they turned out.
After a couple trials, I settled on these settings:
Speed - 700
Power - 7
LPI - 270
Plain white notecards from Amazon

Hey that’s a nice result!
If you like this you may enjoy white core colored cardstocks too, really opens up a lot of possibilities color wise.
Just got my GF and I’m making my cheat cheats. Did some research on the community page and tweaked a bit for results I wanted. The cut power 55 leaves no burnt edges, but you have to pop out the paper a bit. On this particular cardstock I could probably take the engrave power up to a 9 and get even better results. @LasorSailor on IG[image]
Here is an additional picture of what I’ve been doing with those setting …[image]
I had a pack of double-sided white-core cardstock from ages ago and never got around to trying it out. Well, I’ve tried it now, and I love the result!

The paper has a slight woven tooth to it, which comes through beautifully when lasered.

Really pleased with the quality. Hard to believe this was made with a glowforge.

Worth mentioning: The vertical banding is not in the art. I suspect it’s down to variations in the paper, thickness of the color layer, changing…
Someone once cut tiny cardstock leaves and engraved the veins on them, I can’t find the thread (ages ago) but they were so cool.

Oh I meant to ask, did you have to brush ash out of the engraved areas? Some of the cardstocks I have tried have been “dirtier”, and needed a quick swipe with a soft paintbrush. I lost a bit of contrast but it would smudge otherwise.

I did not brush it…these seem to engrave pretty clean.

Gorgeous results; I’ll bet the recipients love getting mail from you. On average, how long did they take?

Ranged about 15 - 30 minutes.
Would be a lot quicker to just print them but not as cool as lasers.
I tried one with just scoring which is a lot quicker. Think it would look good to watercolor it or something.
