What terrible news. I’m so sorry for your loss. I never knew him in person but as others said, he was a bedrock of the community here. I’ve been seeing him around these parts as long as I have been here, and that’s a long time.
Hi Daniel and @geek2nurse I also lost my father recently, and I’m sorry to hear whenever a loved one is lost. One thing that helped me was sharing and hearing stories about my dad from those who knew him. He was tough and brave enough to stitch himself up after that cut, but that makes sense in regards to how much knowledge he acquired in life. He used his knowledge to help a lot of fellow members. He was humble, and that showed whenever he jumped into a thread to help provide feedback suggestions. Thank you for posting this and his presence will be missed.
Daniel, I express my deepest sympathy at your dad’s passing. Thank you for coming here to share your sad news on this forum. With all the many things you surely have to deal with at this time (not the least of which is your own grief), the fact that you would take the time to let his laser forum friends know is most appreciated. Your dad is a good soul, so kind and encouraging. He made a significant contribution here and will not be forgotten.
Oh, I’m so, so sorry for your loss. He will be missed around here. Thank you for taking the time to share with us. I hope seeing the impact he had here and reading his words brings you a bit of comfort.
Daniel - I’m so sorry for the loss to you and your family. Your father was a wonderful friend and bright beacon here. I’m so grateful for the chance I had to get to know him.
Daniel, I am so sorry for your loss. As I’m sure you can tell, Dave will be sorely missed around here. I hope you gain a little comfort learning how folks in this community valued him. Thank you so much for letting us know about your dad amidst dealing with everything else.
As others have already said, I am terribly sorry for your loss Daniel. My deepest condolences to you, your family, and all of his friends. That’s the great thing about this forum - even when we never meet in person, we become “family.” Your dad was special to all of us, and he will be greatly missed. We do hope that you will join us regularly in the forum family as well.
Dave was a true friend, always there for you, willing to share his wisdom and experience.
I felt special because of how he treated me, but reading this post now I realize that was how he was with everyone.
His posts were always spot on, no fluff, just wisdom and good advice.
He will be missed, but he lives on in the memory of this community and the lives he touched.
We hope to see you around and get to meet the Dave in you.
Thank you for letting us know. The original group here share a demographic that suggests more of us will disappear from the forum and the rest will wonder.
Welcome to the GF family even if it is under these circumstances. I hope you find here the same embracing group that your father found. He was a treasure to us, perhaps we can pay that back in some small way.
So sorry for your loss. I had the fortune to meet Dave one time when I was in Denver and it was such a delight. He was a backbone to this forum in so many ways and helped thousands with his generous advice. I will miss his rock steady presence so much on this forum. He was a good man. May he rest in peace.
I am so sad to read/learn of your Dad’s passing. I know I have saved many of the posts your dad made because I was going to apply whatever it was about to something I was doing or going to do.
My prayers are with you and your whole family in this time of great sadness and loss.
As one of the OG PRU folks, the knowledge he brought here and never made you feel stupid (even if you were asking a stupid question, because you were frustrated/tired/too busy). He will be missed (but remembered)
