A large unit with disposable top-layer filters would likely work.

The new Glowforge Air Filter resembles the Compact Filter, but has three key differences: the cartridges last about 20% longer, it supports a prefilter that can extend the life of the cartridge by another 10%, and it has a notification sound when the HEPA filter is nearly full.

When these units start arriving in people’s hands, I guess we’ll find out if it makes a substantial difference.
