Damn, I ordered October 25th '15. I figured since I got the earlybird price I was in the December delivery group. Hurmph.
I think we are realitivly close (I am 30 min outside ABQ). I was pretty early on the pre-order. If I get mine first, you are welcome to come play.
Iâm a bit further up here in Aztec but may be we could make room for a day of fun.
Being on the border should not mean much of a difference in delivery date. Last I heard it is not running in waves or batches, and the moment all orders from the first 30 days are out, they begin on the remainder of orders.
I see four possibilities. 1) The GF are continuously produced so you would get your unit one day after the last of the initial deliveries in December. 2) The company has planned a built in pause to assess quality before starting the 2nd wave, so it might be March. 3) A contractual issue with either the manufacturing facility or parts suppliers require a stepped delivery process, so it also might be March. 4) Dan is unwilling to promise anything more than the two announced deliveries because everyone and their brother will be asking for a refined date, so your guess is as good as anyoneâs.
@rpgregg, if this post from @dan is accurate, it seems to say that the 10,000 pre-orders are âeasyâ to fill, but that GF will be planning to tweak things based on our feedback and âkeep busyâ until the second round of deliveries in March. shrugs I hope that might help.
my personal approach to this is âPrepare for the worst, hope for the bestâ and âexpect the worst so you can be pleasantly surprised if it happens the way it shouldâ
Now I got the elements song stuck in my head again.
Yes thanks. I had seen that. He doesnât actually say that there would be a pause after December. Might imply it, but Iâve learned that many of Danâs posts are slightly less than definitive. Doesnât really matter to me because I ordered the first day.
Everytime he posts one of these I have to go back and check to see if Iâm in or not. I didnât make the first day but I was before the 25th. I just keep forgetting for sure and need to recheck
I do the same thing! Itâs always October 8 every time I check
âTake a look at your desk. Weâre guessing it doesnât have a laser on itâŚYET! Thatâs right, weâve just received and processed your pre-order from Glowforge.â
Embarrassed to say how many times I have rechecked that emailâŚ
Ha ha ha! Thanks a lot! Now youâve all made me wanta havta go look at mine again, too. WhewâŚIâm safe.
I just did the same thing and reaffirmed first batch shipping.
As usual, @rpegg hits it on the nose.
Please let me clarify: the question I was answering was âcan you get the shipper to ship 10,000 things in December, when itâs busyâ. That is relatively easy. Actually building Glowforges to ship to you not easy, and consumes our every waking moment.
Watching this, I wonder what kind of crazy rock star Tom would have been in the modern age. He was so insanely fun.
Gosh, I always thought of him as part of the modern age. His wit and parody are timeless. Perhaps I am feeling my age. However, another way to answer is that he became Weird Al Yankovic!
Well, he is still alive. Very old, and not at all interested in the limelight (yet also not a recluse).
Wierd Al does credit Tom Lehrer among his primary influences.
Stan Freberg on the other hand, is sadly departed.
But, Jonathan Coulton and others show that the legacy of irreverence will continue long.
I ordered it the first day I heard about it (a month after the promotion was already over lol) I guess that doesnât count
Well of course he did: heâs from West-by-God-Virginia. I vaguely recall a story of my grandfather punching a mule in the muzzle for being stubborn. lo and behold, it wasnât stubborn after that
Normally heâs not the type of person to go around hitting anything, let alone animals. I donât even know if the story is true or not. Just something that I heard.
